What matters to distributors and wholesalers
Predictable pricing: a clear basis — per kilogram or per tonne, which Incoterm, which currency — and bands that reward volume, so a distributor can build its own price list. Prices are on the quote, not published as a list. The quote states the band thresholds and the validity period.
Reliability and capacity: a manufacturer that ships on schedule. Current finished output is 40 tonnes per week of finished shea butter. How much of that can be committed to a scheduled distributor contract is confirmed on the quote.
Incoterms and logistics: some distributors use their own forwarder; others want freight arranged. Load ports used today are Apapa (Lagos) and Tin Can Island (Lagos). Transit time is destination-specific and is confirmed on the quote.
Packaging fit for resale: drums and cartons that stack and store; neutral or distributor-labelled packaging where EMI offers it; shelf life long enough to hold stock. Those options are confirmed per order.
Exclusivity and territory: whether EMI grants exclusivity, and on what conditions, is a written commercial decision. Do not assume a country is reserved because you sent an enquiry.
Documents for onward sale: a COA the distributor can pass to its customers, plus origin and export paperwork. A distributor needs three numbers from a shea butter manufacturer before anything else: the volume band thresholds, the lead time per container, and the tonnes it can commit each month — all three come on the quote.
Recommended product and specifications
Stock both butters and, where your market buys it, press cake. Unrefined Grade A is what brands and soap makers ask for. Refined N-RBD is what manufacturers, food and pharmaceutical buyers specify. Press cake is an input for feed and some soap. The batch free-fatty-acid value is on each container's COA.

Refined N-RBD Shea Butter
Manufacturers, food and pharmaceutical customers.
Shea Press Cake

Specification tables your customers will ask for

Unrefined Grade A for Soap Making
Unrefined Grade A shea butter for soap making: SAP value, NaOH factor about 0.
Refined N-RBD for Cosmetics
Refined N-RBD shea butter for cosmetics: white, odourless, low-FFA butter for colour-critical, fragrance-sensitive skincare.
Refined N-RBD for Food Manufacturing
Refined N-RBD shea butter for food manufacturing: very low FFA and PV, food-grade documents and HACCP status stated as they are.
Parameters your customers will specify:
When a customer asks for Grade A versus B, send them shea butter grades and the specification hub. Drum and carton counts per container are confirmed on the quote.

Minimum order, pack formats, lead time, Incoterms and payment are confirmed on the volume quote. Payment conversations usually cover letters of credit and telegraphic transfer — the terms that apply to you are the ones on the offer, including any improvement after a trading history.
Pricing basis and volume bands
EMI quotes on the Incoterm you choose, in volume bands, with the band thresholds stated up front on that quote. The unit, currency and validity period sit on the same page. What moves price between quotes is season, kernel cost and freight — not a list of published kilograms-at-a-price. Request a volume quote; do not look for a price on this site.
Repacking, labelling and exclusivity
Neutral drums, distributor marks on drums or cartons, and smaller packs for onward sale are discussed case by case. Traceability is not optional: batch code and production date stay with the product. Territory exclusivity, if offered, will carry conditions in writing. If it is not offered for your market, we say so plainly rather than implied-yes.
Certification status is NAFDAC registered, SON approved, HACCP in progress. Export documentation per container is confirmed with the shipment. Nigeria-side export steps are in how to import shea butter from Nigeria. See quality and the COA page.
