Shea Butter Research & Data

A written protocol for publishing anonymised, versioned datasets from EMI Agro's QC laboratory and cooperative intake — so buyers, formulators and researchers can see how shea butter actually behaves, not just what a spec sheet promises.

Summary

EMI Agro will publish anonymised quality-control datasets measured in its Ibadan laboratory on intake lots and finished batches. Geography is published at Nigerian state level only and dates are reduced to the month. Any cell with fewer than five lots is withheld. Each study will include a versioned CSV. No prices, collector names or customer identities are included.

Published studies

No studies have been published yet. Datasets will appear here only after they pass the sample-size and anonymisation rules below.

How we publish data

Every future study on this hub follows the same publication protocol. The rules below are binding for tables, charts and downloadable CSVs.

Anonymisation

No collector, cooperative, driver, agent or customer names or identifiers appear in a CSV, an aggregate table or the prose. Lot and batch identifiers are re-keyed to sequential codes before the data leaves the company; the mapping stays offline with EMI. Geography is published at Nigerian state level only — never local government area, village or market. Dates are reduced to the month. Every published cell must have at least five lots; smaller cells are withheld from tables, charts and the CSV.

What we leave out

Prices, purchase costs, grade-gate pay rates, per-supplier volumes, lot tonnages, yields, stock levels, customer names and destination markets are excluded. If a variable could be used to reverse-engineer any of these, it is excluded.

Reproducibility

Each published study will state the sample frame, the method reference per parameter, the instrument class, the replicate and averaging rule, rounding, exclusion rules, and the statistical method: quartiles by linear interpolation between order statistics (R type 7 / Excel PERCENTILE.INC). The published method notes are enough to recompute every table from the CSV. Read more about EMI Agro's laboratory and certifications and quality control.

Versioning

The first release of a study is v1.0. A minor version adds or corrects rows without changing methods or variable definitions. A major version changes the method, cell definitions, limits or variable set. Each version keeps its own immutable CSV; older files stay online so a citation still resolves.

Licence

Published datasets will be released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). Reuse with attribution in the form “EMI Agro Industries, study title, v version, URL”. Commercial reuse is permitted with attribution. There is no warranty.
