Shea Press Cake

The pressing residue from our shea butter production, supplied in bulk for feed, soap and soil.

Summary

Shea press cake is the solid residue left after mechanical pressing of shea kernels. It contains residual fat, fibre, protein and the kernel's minor components. EMI Agro supplies it from the press line in Ibadan as an input for animal feed (at limited inclusion), soap making, and organic fertiliser or biomass.

What shea press cake contains

Shea press cake is the fat-depleted kernel residue from pressing; its value in feed depends on residual fat and on limiting anti-nutritional factors through inclusion rate or treatment.

Uses

Animal feed

Used as a feed ingredient at limited inclusion because of tannins and saponins. Buyers should run their own feeding trials and analyse each lot.

Soap-making input

Residual fat contributes saponifiable matter. Cake is typically blended and is not a replacement for shea butter.

Fertiliser, soil amendment and biomass

The meal is an organic-matter input and can be used as biomass fuel. Efficacy claims beyond that require the buyer's own trials.
