Summary
Why this grade in Lebanon
Lebanon does not grow shea as a commercial crop. Refined N-RBD shea butter for lip balm is imported from West Africa. EMI Agro loads at Apapa and Tin Can Island for Beirut (typical ocean range 16–26 days). MOH filings sit with the importer in Lebanon.
Duty, documents and clearance live on the import guide for Lebanon. Packs, quote basis and ports live on the supplier page.
Nigerian shea butter for Lebanon
Lebanon does not produce shea nuts. Gulf and Levant buyers import the fat as they do other tropical vegetable butters. Beirut is both the port and the buying city for Lebanese cosmetics plants. EMI Agro works with 5,000+ women collectors in Kwara, Niger, Kaduna, Kogi. Beirut is the usual discharge.
Ask for a batch COA on a NIS 571:2013 basis: free fatty acid, peroxide value, moisture, colour and melting point. Reject lots that smell sharply rancid or pour like liquid oil at room temperature. MOH filings sit with the Lebanon importer — they do not replace a COA.
Trial lots start at 5 tonnes; standard orders start at 20 tonnes. Send the request even if you need less — EMI Agro reviews every Lebanon enquiry against current production of 40 tonnes per week of finished shea butter and can schedule rolling shipments. Lead time is Ibadan production plus ocean time to Beirut. Quotes are EXW, FOB or CIF; each term prices different services beyond the butter.
Two questions. We show the grade, the documents that usually apply and the next step — we do not invent a price.
Recommended specifications for lip balm
| Parameter | Target for lip balm | Why it matters | Test method |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peroxide value (PV) | Available on request | Oxidised fat is tasted on the lip; refined starts lower, and lip use still needs the tightest peroxide value on the site. | AOCS Cd 8-53 |
| Slip melting point | Available on request | Glide at lip temperature; refining does not replace wax-level design. | AOCS Cc 3-25 |
| Free fatty acid (FFA) | Available on request | Free acids taste soapy; the refined ceiling, not Grade A. | AOCS Ca 5a-40 / ISO 660 |
| Colour | Available on request | Tinted and clear balms keep shade; ivory unrefined shifts pale pigments. | AOCS Cc 13e-92 |
| Moisture and volatiles | Available on request | Water in an anhydrous stick promotes bloom and hydrolysis. | AOCS Ca 2b-38 / ISO 662 |
| Unsaponifiable matter | Available on request | Still shea; do not market as raw. | AOCS Ca 6a-40 |
